Edward’s 4th Month Update
June 21st was not just the longest day of the year, it was also the day our dear Edward turned 4 months! Shortly after breakfast that day, we drove to the more private part of the Southampton beach. Edward fell asleep in his car seat so we left him buckled, took the seat with us, and prepped him under the shade facing the water.
The beach was extremely quiet. No other people in sight, but us. His dad and his dad’s friend visiting us from Germany wrestled in the sand; while his sisters and I collected some shells to pass the time. Edward woke up eventually, and happily watched everything that was going on.
We drove home to eat lunch, and put the kids for a nap. Everyone napped except for Mira. Later that afternoon we went to the main beach in Port Elgin. This time, we came prepared and brought our buckets and our trusty shovel. We built sand castles, and dams, and other things. My friend Bobbi came with some sand toys and joined the fun too. We stayed at the beach until almost everyone had left. It was almost 8 o’clock, but the sun was still up.

We blinked, and another month had gone by so quickly. It was amazing to watch Edward grow these past few weeks. He likes to roll from his back to his tummy, and prefers to sleep that way. Not long after he turned 3 months, I gave him watermelon and fruit smoothie, and that was the beginning of his love for food. At 4 months, he can finish a cup of unsweetened fruit puree, and pretty much eats everything we eat. He loves meat, especially salmon and chicken. (Another good eater added to our growing family!).
Recently, he has been trying to grab his spoon, making feeding tricky, and messy. He also likes grabbing his toes and reaching for things in front of him. He’s curious about his surrounding and starting to explore more. I won’t be surprised at all if he walks early like his sister Diane did.
With all that is changing, two things remain the same – Edward’s happy disposition, and the way he looks at me.
In the beautiful eyes of this baby boy, I am the most wonderful creature! And that nothing matters more in this world, but me. Someday, I know that won’t be the case. But for now, I bask in the glory of his love knowing that for him no one comes close to me – his perfectly flawed momma who loves him so dearly!
